NBA Player Dwight Howard
Not many NBA players are as menacing as Dwight Howard. Standing a monstrous six foot eleven inches tall, Dwight Howard was selected first overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2004 National Basketball Association draft. He has become popular for his arsenal that he brings to the post, and he has played both as a power forward and a center. While many have commended his offensive efforts, Howard has demonstrated superb defensive skills. Aside from appearing in three NBA All-Star games, Dwight Howard has been named a two-time all-defensive member. In addition, he was honored with the 2009 Defensive Player of the Year award.
Dwight Howard attended Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, and his high school basketball skills did not go unnoticed. When Howard soon became aware of his athletic supremacy, he opted to enter the NBA draft right out of high school. Scouts paid close attention to the sixteen points and thirteen rebounds that he averaged throughout his high school basketball career. As stated earlier, Dwight Howard has received several awards during his tenure with the Orlando Magic. However, he began receiving national recognition right out of high school. For instance, after his senior year, Howard was named Naismith Prep Player of the Year, Gatorade National Player of the Year, and Morgan Wootten High School Player of the year. It soon became certain that Howard possessed the skills to succeed at the professional level.
